riday, December 14th 2012 was a day I’m not sure I will ever forget. A day of incomprehensible horror and loss and a day in which my fear grew as a parent along with the uncomfortable reality that there is only so much I can do to protect my child. On that very day, almost one year a go, my parenting perceptions and ideals were hastily challenged and changed.

It’s that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the temps are dropping and fall is finally upon us!
The holiday season is in full swing! Thanksgiving has come and gone, the beautiful lights are hanging, and even in Dallas (where it has been near 80 degrees this week) there is that feeling of winter around us.
It’s November! And though in Dallas the leaves haven’t yet changed their color or fallen from the trees, the spirit of Thanksgiving is all around us.
As we head into the holiday season, a season of giving and doing for others, I invite you to look at giving and doing in a another context as well – giving and doing for yourself, or in Parent Coaching Institute-speak “self-care”.
Have you ever felt as if the mornings drag on, everything is a struggle, and no matter how hard you try you just can’t get out the door without feeling stressed, overwhelmed and about to have a nervous breakdown and all before 9 a.m.?
